Misty Mountain Meadow - 80 x 80
front | detail 1 | detail 2This Judy Neimeyer pattern was made as a class sample for The Happy Quilter and won the Best Machine Workmanship prize at the The Quilt Fest of New Jersey IV Tri-State Quilt Competition 2008 Show! It also won Best in Show, 1st Place Machine Quilted Bed Quilts and Best Machine Applique at the Northern Star Quilters' Guild Quilt Show 2008: A World of Quilts XXIX in May 2008.
Fans and Cranes - 92 x 110
front | back | detailThis is one of my favorite quilts to make. This particular one was awarded Best in Show, Best Workmanship in Machine Quilting and 1st Place in its size for the Machine Pieced and Quilted category at the 2006 Warwick Quilters Guild Show. The fans and border use a stunning Kona Bay fabric, and using the “Stack and Whack” method, each fan is a wonderful surprise.
Starry Starry Night - 84 x 84
front | backThis quilt was awarded “Best in Show” at the Brownstone Quilters Guild Show in 2006 as well as 1st Place for its size in the Machine Pieced and Quilted category. It is based on a Judy Matheson pattern using two variations of the Mariner’s Compass block. It is unique in that it was constructed as a reversible quilt, allowing the Compass blocks to be quilted before the quilt was assembled. The quilting pattern in the sashing and border was designed to camouflage the fact that it was not all completed at the same stage of construction.
Fans I - 63 x 63
front | detailI fell in love with this fabric and believed that something wonderful would “grow” out of it! This original design unfolded by first piecing the fans and then arranging them to create movement around an area into which I could quilt my favorite elements in their own setting. I couldn’t resist quilting the cranes circling around the border; originally I thought there would be only a few, but I liked them too much to stop. This quilt was juried into Quiltfest NJ 2006, and, at the 2006 Brownstone Quilters Guild Show, it was awarded Judges’ Choice and 2nd Place in the Machine Pieced and Quilted category. This quilt is to be part of an event to raise funds for 2008 Project Graduation at Northern Valley Regional H.S.
Facing Cranes - 92 x 113
front | detailThis quilt is based on a traditional Triple Irish Chain design and uses beautiful Asian fabrics. The 31 open spaces were each quilted with a different Japanese family crest. My favorite pattern, Facing Cranes, was quilted in each of the four corners of the border and became the title for this quilt. It won 3rd Place in the Machine Pieced and Quilted category of the 2006 Brownstone Quilters Guild Show.
Reversible Quilt – 85 x 85
front | backThis quilt was awarded the Blue Ribbon for Fiber Arts at the 2005 Art on the Mountain Show in Vermont. Both sides of each square were constructed simultaneously and in different color palettes. My husband refers to this quilt as the “manic” quilt as each side definitely expresses a different mood. This quilt was donated in 2007 as a fundraiser for the Closter Nature Center.
Strips and Curves
frontThis quilt uses Louisa Smith’s design and templates. This quilt is so much fun to put together. I love playing with the layout to create the movement and layers of shapes. It was juried into Quiltfest NJ 2005.
Secret Garden - 94 x 108
frontThis variation on the traditional Trip Around the World pattern was the first quilt I entered in a show and won 3rd place in the 2004 Brownstone Quilters Guild Show. The quilting design appeared to be waving lines, but when looked at from the back you could see that it was actually a large tulip-shaped flower. This was also my first attempt at free motion quilting (in the borders on a busy pattern so all was well camouflaged).
