Wonky House Quilt

It's quilted and bound and ready to bring to Journey Home CT. This quilt began at The Quilt Tree during one of our monthly sewing sessions, where we all created our wonky houses. Now it's ready to be part of a fund-raising gala to be held for Journey Home to help with all the good work that they do. #TheQuiltTree #DonationQuilts

Upcoming Classes

A quick post! The houses were made by quilters at The Quilt Tree and will become part of a quilt for a wonderful organization, Journey Home CT. The Quilt Tree has been making quilts to be part of their Make a House a Home project, and we love to think of them brightening up someone's home and keeping them warm. If you have an AccuQuilt Cutter, and you love sampler quilts, this quilt is for you! It's on the winter schedule at The Quilt Tree along with the fabric bowls that you

Bernina Q24

Yes I did it! I am now the very happy owner of a long arm quilting machine, and here is the first real quilt I worked on. It's a whole new skill, and it's going to take some time before I feel confident, but it is amazing and fun to do lots of ruler work while I learn. I will be teaching this Candy Blossoms quilt in the fall session at The Quilt Tree along with a class in Beginning Machine Quilting. This is a bench that I made for The Quilt Tree using some leftover blocks fr

A Beginning!

This is a One-Hour-Basket that I made as a gift basket for some special friends. It was filled with yummy goodies and was a hit! Just some fun from our recent trip to hike in the California Redwoods. It has been a long-time dream and we did it! This will be a new project and I am loving the collage of beautiful prints from The Quilt Tree. #TheQuiltTree

A Finish

This Colorsplash Trip Around the World is done!! Here are a few photos. This will be on an upcoming class schedule at The Quilt Tree. #TheQuiltTree #Quilts

I've gotten a little more quilting done on the Colorsplash Trip quilt. Here is some of the back. Save your batting scraps!! They make great filling for this floor pouf which will probably be in the summer session of classes at The Quilt Tree. This week I had fun making another little sample for the KaPow class in June with some of the new batiks at The Quilt Tree. #TheQuiltTree

Quilting Progress

I making progress on this Colorsplash Trip Around the World. #TheQuiltTree

I've started quilting this one. I love being surrounded by the colors as I work. #TheQuiltTree

Been Busy

I'm making one of my favorite quilt patterns for an upcoming class at The Quilt Tree. It starts out looking like this: and using a well-thought-out process, easily turns into this! I've also created this new bag and figured out a simple, clean way to easily install the zipper at the top. Lastly, this is just a nice photo of a walk on the Nyack Piermont Trail. I often walk this before working at the shop. #Handbags #TheQuiltTree

Here are a two things I've been working on for the upcoming class schedule at The Quilt Tree. First it's is the Market Bag from the book, Handmade Style, which is full of neat projects. This is waiting for leather strap handles. Next is the wall hanging, My Small World, a Jen Kingwell pattern full of little pieces and favorite fabrics. #TheQuiltTree

Carousel Quilt

I'm taking a class at The Quilt Tree taught by a wonderful teacher, Kaye, and it's a lot of fun!! A great group with a great teacher in a wonderful place - what a treat! Here is the top. I thought I was being random in choosing which fabrics to combine in a block, but it appears that I really liked this combination! It was fun to pull a bunch of old favorite fabrics together. Here is a peek at the next project. #TheQuiltTree

Catching Up

I'm working on putting together the parts for this quilt. It will show up at The Quilt Tree soon. I couldn't resist making a few Xmas chickens! Lastly, I pulled fabrics for a class on Tuesday. I'm so looking forward to taking Kaye's class, Carousel, at The Quilt Tree!! #TheQuiltTree

Rosette Pillow

This is for an upcoming class at The Quilt Tree and is a blast to make! It feels like playing with fabric, rather than working on a project. It's waiting for it's pillow form. The pattern calls for a woven fusible, and I used this Pellon Hc120. It is really wonderful to use! It makes quilting cotton feel more like a decorator weight fabric and as well as making it more durable without making it stiff. Stacey (at The Quilt Tree) is using it in a bag and it's wonderful there as

Looking at You!

I finished up these owls for a quilt that will come in the next session at The Quilt Tree. I'll be teaching this with Lisa and Stacey, the shop owners. Looking forward to LOTS of fun!! #TheQuiltTree

Sit and Sew at The Quilt Tree

The class schedule is up at The Quilt Tree, and there are a bunch of wonderful classes. I'm also doing the Sit and Sew sessions where you are welcome to come and sew with other quilters and get any assistance you may need with your projects. There is one tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14 from 10:30 - 1:30. The future dates are October 29 (Thursday), 11:30 to 2:30, and November 10 (Tuesday), 5PM - 8PM. It's a great time to have some fun and get some help if you need it. Check ou

Busy, Busy!

Two photos of the same bag. There is an inner hook that changes the shape. I'll be teaching this bag at The Quilt Tree. Here are photos of a Quilt Tree sample I made for a sweet fabric line, Story Collection by Windham Fabrics. The back is the panel with the houses, the front is the pattern Glimmer, by JayBird Quilts. I also finished up a table runner for my sister-in-law! She told me the colors (I hope I got them right) and this seemed like a good design. #TheQuiltTree #Hand

The Opening and a new bag!

This past weekend was the official opening of The Quilt Tree in Nyack, NY. What a fun weekend! The shop is beautiful and will be a wonderful place to hang with friends. Here are Stacey and Lisa revealing the raflle winners. Some lucky customers are going to receive some wonderful gifts! I just made another bag. I wanted to try the Soft and Stable batting. It is really nice to use and gives the bag a nice shape without stiffness. I have another bag in mind...... #TheQuiltTree
